Rant Warning: Leave Ronald McDonald Alone!!

So I was downstairs for a very brief period and The View was on. They were talking about how Ronald McDonald might (will?) be removed as the mascot of McDonald's because he's "too old". What the hell? He's a mascot. An important mascot at that. He represents childhood, fun, and happiness. What are they going to do with all the Ronald McDonald houses who help families in desperate need? More importantly, what are they going to do with Grimace? Or Mayor McCheese? Or, heaven forbid, Hamburglar? They've already broken Cookie Monster, and Sesame Street in general.

STOP BLAMING THE PUPPETS FOR THE BAD CHOICES OF AMERICA

Adults are ultimately responsible for what a child eats. It is NOT the fault of Ronald McDonald or Cookie Monster if a child is obese. It is not the fancy, attractive packaging or the toy in the Happy Meal. In this sue-happy nation, we really need to get over blaming everyone else for our bad choices, man up, and move on.

  1. And parents are responsible for the fact that kids aren't getting enough exercise - i.e. play - good old unstructured, unsupervised outdoor play. So much of the wailing about childhood obesity ignores this seachange.
