Just As You Are

So, I just found out about August McLaughlin's wonderful Beauty of a Woman Blogfest and I decided to jump on the bandwagon, albeit a little too late to officially participate, but hey, it's never to late to celebrate inner beauty! Make sure you visit her blog tomorrow to win some prizes and read some amazing blog posts!

I have a lot of trouble excepting myself as I am, but I'm trying very hard. I'm trying to accept my too-round face, my uncooperative hair, and even those extra pounds that seem to follow me around wherever I go. I'm trying to accept my imperfections and accept myself Just As I Am.

There is a part in Bridget Jones' Diary that has been one of my absolute favorite scenes since the moment I saw it. It made my heart melt and my goal in life is to find a guy exactly like him. He sees all her flaws, but still he loves her, just as she is.

  1. That movie is so great--especially that scene. I love how the whole movie is filled with love and flaws :)

  2. Aw... We all need a Colin Firth in our lives. ;) Thanks so much for joining the fest!

P.S. "Just as I am" —great mantra. If we all keep trying, we'll get somewhere.

  4. I especially love the part where Colin Firth says "you let whatever is in your head come out of your mouth." Wait, did I just say that?

Our world doesn't make it easy for us to take what we get and just run with it, does it?

Thanks for the clip. What a timeless film.

  5. I hope you do find a guy just like that, and I can say from experience that they're worth waiting for. Before I met my husband, everyone used to ask what I was waiting for. I didn't know it at the time, but I really was waiting for someone who'd love me just as I am :)

  8. I, also, hope you find a guy just like this. And I hope he is coming from the heart and not reading lines. Perfect clip for this blogfest Samantha.

  10. Oh Samantha, you did a beautiful job of saying it just like it is...

"I have a lot of trouble excepting myself as I am, but I'm trying very hard. I'm trying to accept my too-round face, my uncooperative hair, and even those extra pounds that seem to follow me around wherever I go. I'm trying to accept my imperfections and accept myself Just As I Am."

I think every woman has said or thought that. And oh how we all can relate to your statement. Thanks for being brave enough to say it for all of us Samantha!
